Activate your ATT phone or other device

Congratulations on your new ATT device! Here in ATT Customer Service is everything you need to know to get you up and running as quickly as possible.

To activate your new ATT phone, tablet, or other wireless device, select the method below that best suits your needs.

Activate an ATT device online

From a tablet or PC, visit Activate my phone and complete the online form and instructions to activate your device.

Do not activate online in the following situations. Instead, follow the instructions further below in this article for your specific activation type:

  • Transferring your number from another carrier.
  • Activating your device on a different mobile number than the one you used to upgrade.
  • Activating an insurance device replacement device.
Activate over the ATT phone

Call 866.895.1099 to accept the Terms & Conditions and activate your device.

Do not call this number in the following situations. Instead, follow the instructions further below in this article for your specific activation type:

  • Activating your device on a different mobile number than the one you used to upgrade.
  • Activating an insurance device replacement device.
Transfer number from another carrier

If you are transferring your phone number from another carrier, call 866.895.1099 to accept the Terms & Conditions and activate your device.

Activate device on a different mobile number than the one used to upgrade

If you’re activating your device on a different mobile number than the one used to upgrade (a.k.a. cross upgrade), the easiest way to activate is to visit a company-owned AT&T store.

You can also contact ATT Customer Service Number to activate a cross upgrade:

  1. From a different phone than the line that you used for your upgrade, call 800.331.0500 or 611 from an AT&T wireless phone.
  2. When prompted, enter the wireless number for the line you used for the eligible upgrade.
  3. At the next prompt, press 2 to activate your device on a different wireless number.
  4. Stay on the line and an AT&T Customer Service representative will help you complete the activation. Enjoy your new device!
Activate insurance replacement

To activate a device you received as an insurance replacement for a lost, stolen, or broken device:

  • If you did not receive a new SIM card with your replacement, insert the SIM card from your previous device into your replacement device to activate.
  • If you did receive a new SIM card with your replacement, go to att.com/UpdateDevice to activate, and then insert the new SIM card into your replacement device.
